Program director
Alana Simões Orozco, MA
Filmmaker and academic. She holds a Master's degree in Critical Theory from the Institute of Critical Studies (17), a Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences (University of Havana–Ceneval), and a specialization in Documentary Film from the EICTV (International Film and Television School). Her work focuses on non-fiction cinema, with research interests in audiovisual ethics, representation, and new narratives from a critical and negativity perspective. She has taught, tutored, and served on juries at various institutions. Her films 'My Brother' (2018) and 'The Fault' (2024) have been selected for national and international film festivals and have received support from FONCA (National Fund for Culture and the Arts) and IMCINE (Mexican Film Institute). They are available on streaming platforms.
